"I am very tired but at the same time I am also happy that I won the semifinals. I'm for the first time in my career in the finals of such a big event. My opponent is very young and has a great future ahead of her. She is very good," 25-years-old Veronica recognized the quality of the rival. Potapova is the junior singles winner of Wimbledon 2016.
Royg is in the final here in Trnava that means she will not play at the WTA tournament qualifiers in Nurnberg, Germany on Sunday. Although she is assigned there, she will now have to pay a fine of 600 USD. "I cannot go there, I'll pay a fine. I'm in the final here and that's important," she added.
Royg will face in Sundays final Markéta Vondroušová. Only 17-year-old Czech has reached the finals after her opponent Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia retired injured in the semi-finals when trailing 0:6, 1:2.
"I knew her hand was hurting a bit from the previous matches but I did not know whether she will play or not. I did not know how serious it was. It is better for me that I can to save my strength for the final. I'm glad to improve my ranking again," said Vondroušová after the semifinals.
